The Kuro Bench

A minimalist, architectural bench that celebrates heavy timber and texture. Built from solid cedar beams, this piece utilizes the traditional Japanese technique of Yakisugi (Shou Sugi Ban)—intentionally charring the wood surface to reveal a deep, rich charcoal color and an incredibly distinct, raised grain texture.

This process doesn't just create a striking, dark modern aesthetic; the carbon layer naturally protects the cedar, making it highly resistant to weather, rot, and insects. It functions beautifully as an outdoor statement piece for a garden path, patio, or entryway, but is clean enough to bring indoors.

Each bench is 14” tall and 16” wide, and available in various lengths.
